Hi Doree,
First off, I very much enjoy all of your work (books, podcasts, newsletter etc.)!
One potential fashion topic: tops that look professional enough for zoom calls, but are versatile enough for mom life/active wear. I’m often hopping right on calls after getting the kids out the door, so I’m needing to look like a functional human, but not wanting to get totally into workwear in case I have time to workout or head to the park after pick up. It’s a fine needle to thread!

I was initially a little stumped by your question. How could a top exist that would be suitable for work (yes, on Zoom, but still work!), and working out, and the playground etc. But I think I’ve solved it, and it is the Everlane Organic Cotton Muscle Tee. The cap sleeve elevates it a bit from just your regular old T-shirt, and the neckline is also delicate. I love the Brilliant Blue color — it will look great on Zoom and looks like it will flatter most skin tones. But! This shirt can easily be worn for a casual workout or after-school park date. The price is decent, at $35. The only downside I see is that the size range should be bigger — it only goes up to XL. Get with the program, Everlane!!!
I feel so lost when it comes to clothing but also feel like I’m finally in a place financially where I can build a quality wardrobe.
Where do you like to shop for quality items?
Things I’m looking for are comfortable, somewhat fitted clothes. I’d love to wear giant flowy dresses everyday but I’d like something that flatters my figure just a little but MUST be comfortable. I’m chasing a toddler, I can’t be pulling things down or feel constrained. Also need clothes that are washable (again, toddler). Things that are durable and can be washed over and over but are not dry clean. I need help!
Thank you!
Annie
Back when I was a childless single lady working in an office, I bought dry clean only Office Shirts without a care in the world. In fact, it almost seemed like a rite of passage to have a lot of dry clean only clothing! Like I had arrived because I suddenly owned a lot of delicate silk shirts.
Oh, how things have changed.
