What I Would Buy Right Now, If I Had the Money

I'm in my "add to cart but do not check out" era.

You’re probably aware that the Writers’ Guild of America has been on strike for more than a month, which makes it difficult for my TV writer husband to bring in very much income. So to say money is tight around here is an understatement. My dreams of buying some cute new summer ‘fits have pretty much gone out the window, but that doesn’t mean that I can’t still window shop, which for online shopping means adding a bunch of things to my cart and then never actually checking out. I’m shopping my closet these days, baby!!!

But here are five things I would buy right now, if I had the cash. Maybe you’re not a TV writer (or married to one), and you do have some disposable income right now, in which case: shop away!

1. Steve Madden Mona Sandals ($89.95)

Let me go on the record: I am fully on board with the dad sandal trend. And in classic Steve Madden fashion, the brand has shamelessly copied the Dior Dioract sandal, which rings up at a cool $1,150. (Eep!) I would be totally fine with this version, though. I like the gold hardware and the footbed looks nice and padded. I would wear these with jeans, dresses, shorts… They seem to go with anything. (And they go up to size 12!)

(There is also a $29.95 Target version but they apparently went viral on TikTok and are now impossible to find, but occasionally random sizes pop up here and there.)

2. H&M Linen Shorts ($27.99) + Shirt ($29.99)

BRING ON THE SHORTS SETS! I love a monochromatic look and this bright royal blue one is especially speaking to me. This one looks a tad more refined than some others I’ve seen that have a blatant pajamas vibe (which is fine, of course, but not always what I’m going for). This would also look cute with the aforementioned dad sandals. (Sizes XS-XXL.)
